·         Tell your kids often that technology and gadgets are not as important as spending time with family. Remind your kids that most of the digital correspondence can be retrieved later or saved for future viewing, but it’s more important to have a family time.

·         Sometimes it is necessary for parents to assert their authority to reprimand ways of their kids. In this case, parents should force the issue without being mean or aggressive. But don’t forget that sometimes teenagers need a little assertive guidance in knowing the difference between right and wrong.

·         Teach them the impact of making eye contact while conversing with a person. It is a common sight in a living room, where parents and kids are busy with their gadgets and rarely look at each other. Teach your kids that having a conversation means engaging them visually as well as socially, which makes it more enjoyable.

·         Remind your kids how important their presence is in a family gathering or everyday in a house or during meals. And by presence, it means their attention is required for different activities in the house.
